Google killed your SEO rank checking software

Web CEO, Web Position, SEO Book Rank Checker and a number of other SEO tools have the ability to find your website’s rank in Google’s search results for any keyword… Sorry, they had the ability – until last week.
*SEO software can still find link partners, keywords, etc. Just don’t bother with the rank checker.
What Did Google Change?
On December 4, 2009 Google released Personalized Search Results for everyone.
Simply put, if two people search the same keyword on Google, they might see a different list of websites. Or the same list of websites, but in a different order / rank.
If 2 people search “lawyer”, Google may show unique search results pages to each person. Lawyer.com might be #1 for John Smith, but #6 for Jane Doe.
Welcome to the new Google!
Why Are the Search Results Different for Each Person?
Google has been collecting information about your online habits since 2003!
Have you ever heard of the Google Toolbar? How about Google Chrome? If you use either of them, you’ve given permission to Google to track your activity online. They’re using this data to create a “web history” that’s unique to you.
Obviously, every person will have a different “web history” according to Google. Now Google is using that data to show search results (they think) you want to see.
Rank Checking Software (for Google) is Dead
It’s impossible to accurately determine ranking for any keyword because Google is rearranging search results for every user.
The uncertainty of search results and rank is what’s going to make Rank Checking – not only the software, but the activity itself – useless.
